ABOUT US

VISION

NTU-CF seeks to help all her members to be effective salt and light of the world on campus and later in society upon graduation.

You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again?
It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.

You are the light of the world.
A city on a hill cannot be hidden.
Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.

Matthew 5:13-15 (NIV)

GOAL

Through participation in in NTU-CF’s ministries during their time on campus, NTU-CF hopes to challenge her members to emerge from the university as mature Christians well-grounded in God’s Word. Thus they will be better equipped in making godly decisions and being witnesses for Christ at their workplace.

In the years that CFers spend on campus, being involved in various ministries, NTU-CF hopes that all her members will embrace the vision for themselves as Christ’s ambassadors on earth.

Through this, it is hoped that members will graduate from university with a firm grip of the Bible as the foundation of their thinking and decision-making, having grown deeper in their understanding of God’s Word, having grown closer to God, praying more fervently and selflessly, able to share their faith with friends and strangers, able to disciple young Christians, able to defend their faith in the face of opposition and being involved in missions.

Our 6 Distinctives

Our distinctives govern the manner in which we go about our ministry. It describes the framework that NTU-CF operates in.

Evangelical

To be evangelical means to be committed to the euangelion, the Gospel – which is the fundamental truth of Christianity as revealed in the Holy Scripture. This is reflected in our emphasis on the careful study of God’s Word and the proclamation of the good news of Jesus Christ.

Evangelistic

In Matthew 4:19, Jesus says that, if we follow Him, He will make us “fishers of men”. Being Christians, we therefore have the duty and privilege of reaching out to non-Christian undergraduates. NTU-CF encourages Christians to befriend fellow students, welcome them into our fellowship and to share the Gospel with them.

Dependent on student initiative

NTU-CF was set up in 1983 by a group of students and has always been led and supported by students since. We believe that students are in the best position to understand the needs of their fellow students and therefore are the most suited to reaching out to non-believers on campus. Thus it is desirable that Christian students willingly act on their own initiative to foster a Christian presence on campus.

Church-oriented

NTU-CF, with its limited objectives, is never to replace the local church. Indeed, one of the primary concerns of NTU-CF is to encourage Christian undergraduates to be involved in their local church fellowships. This is because we believe that the church is ultimately the building block of the Christian community and that NTU-CF is to merely function as a para-church ministry. Hence, it is important for every Christian to be a part of their church community.

Inter-denominational

As people redeemed through faith in Jesus Christ, we are all children of God. Therefore all Christians are brothers and sisters in Christ, regardless of our denomination. NTU-CF, being a para-church organization, allows Christians from different denominations to come together to worship and serve God. Hence, NTU-CF is a channel through which fellow believers can come to understand more about other denominations, thereby fostering a stronger bond of unity amongst Christians.

Missions-aware

NTU-CF stresses not only evangelism but also missions awareness. As with evangelism, our emphasis on missions-mindedness stems from our belief in God’s Word that Jesus Christ died for all, irrespective of nation, tribe or tongue. To foster missions consciousness, NTU-CF seeks to expose students to the needs of the world through various missions education and exposure programmes.
